PROMISE. -------------------------- December 9th, 2011 Demi's POV "Do you really have to leave two days before Christmas?" my mother asked as I shoved the last duffle bag into the orange, punched-up, taxi car. "Can't you find work after Christmas?" She went on. I shut the trunk and then turned and looked at my mom. "No, I can't," I responded. "I need this job! Interviews are only this week and I can't let an opportunity like this pass me by." My mother starred at me for a couple of seconds, a couple of seconds that seemed like minutes. Then she pulled me into her arms and squeezed me tightly. "Look at my baby girl, all grown up. Going off on her own." My mother started to tear and I groaned. "Not this mom. I'm twenty now, you're going to have to learn to let go." The taxi driver suddenly honked the horn and my mom and I both jumped. "I'm sorry to interrupt a mushy, gushy, mother-daughter, moment but your plane leaves in about an hour and a half." "Give me a minute," I told him then looked at my mom. "I guess this is goodbye," she said. "I'll be back for Christmas," I commented. "Promise?" I nodded and giggled, "I promise." She held out her pinky finger and looked at me. I laughed and locked my pinky with her. She pulled me into another hug. "I'm going to miss you so much." I giggled, "Mommmmmmmmmm, I'm going to miss my plane ...
